Co-founder of Makerbot, Bre Pettis buys milling machine firm Other Machine

Ex-CEO and co-founder of 3D printing business Makerbot, Bre Pettis has purchased a non 3D printing related company – the CNC milling device corporation Other Machine.

American corporation, Other Machine operates from Berkeley and is the designer of the Othermill Pro desktop milling device. Bre Pettis now acts as CEO and founding father of Bre & Co, started in the year 2016, the corporation creates personalised 3D printed presents and heirlooms.

Othermill Pro

Other Machine made available its Othermill product line on Kickstarter with the original machine raising above $311,000 back in 2013. The most up-to-date device, the Othermill Pro, at this time is sold for $3,199.

By using its 3-axis toolhead, the machine can mill PCB Boards and carve 3D shapes. The primary characteristic of the device is its capability to be incorporated in an office setup. The Othermill Pro is sufficiently little to fit on a worktable, calm enough to feature in a public workplace and can speed up production processes by creating in-house rather than outsourcing.

Coupled with hardware systems, the Berkeley firm also has developed its own Otherplan software for the CNC machines. Bre Pettis declares he is “thrilled” to invest in Other Machine as,

The Othermill Pro is an fabulous milling machine that’s so exact that electrical engineers has the ability to mill PCB Boards with 6 mil traces and build PCB Boards faster than a PCB Board service. I’m delighted to return in the arena assisting leaders.

CEO of Other Machine, Dr. Danielle Applestone describes, “I look forward to building on our commitment of accessible prototyping machines for specialist engineers and empowering a number of of students using the Othermill Pro to learn and make their thoughts a fact.”

Applestone also explained she is going to go on in her position as CEO and is “excited to have Bre’s assistance.”
